My niece, Piper, turns 8 in August and my sister gave her a super cute glamping themed slumber party. Starting with the invitation.
Luckily her kids were at Cousin Camp with mine so she had the week to make some super cute signs and get ready. She’s a teacher so she’s has a gift for crafty, artsy things. Her lettering on signs is always so good. That’s why she usually makes my party signs too.
The entry way and living room were decorated with bunting flags she made from jute cord and solid cotton fabrics that matched the tents. Apply glue with glue gun to top of each triangle and fold over. Space them a few inches apart. Much cuter than the plastic bunting at the party store.
Each camper or glamper got her own tent to sleep in and take home with her.
She bought dowel rods and 2x2s. They were cut and drilled with holes to slide the dowels through. Rubber bands twisted around the dowel ends held them in place. Similar to the frames on Domesticity Defined blog. Her mother in law helped her sew the fabric with rod pockets in the center and ends. The birthday girl had some pom pom fringe added to hers. There was even a camp fire made out of a cardboard base, rock circle, pile of twigs and tissue paper.
She served the girls hot dogs and chips in disposable aluminum pie plates to go with the whole camp setting.
There were s’mores snacks and a trail mix bar (popcorn, pretzels, M&Ms, teddy grahams, yogurt raisins, peanuts and marshmallows).
She bought some cupcakes from a local store and used free printables from Strawberry Mommycakes blog for the toppers. They were served on white washed wood circles.
We watched Troop Beverly Hills (I seriously love Shelley Long’s wardrobe) while eating our trail mix and after that the girls played board games.
Slowly they each made their way to their tents and eventually fell asleep. Like around 2:30am! Then I heard some giggling around 7:00am. And all nine glampers were up shortly after. They were served donuts and juice before pick up time. I think it turned out really cute and the kids loved it. I’m still recovering from the loss of sleep. Not gonna lie, I took a nap Saturday after we got home.
